You will receive an email with the details of the Café (time and place or online link). Each week, you will receive a conversation guide with the discussion questions for that week’s topic.

Yes, you can start anytime.

No. We’d love for you to come every week, but you don’t need to. (If a Café has a waitlist, we may ask you to come regularly so you don’t lose your spot.)

Our Cafés are made for an intermediate level (Canadian Language Benchmark level 5/6) or a beginner level (Canadian Language Benchmark level 2/3). Check our website or ask your host which level(s) they offer.

All of our Café volunteers have a minimum English level of CLB 8. Our volunteers may be
Canadians, native English speakers, or internationals.

All of our volunteers are trained to facilitate a Conversation Café, but most of them are not certified English language learning (ELL) teachers.
